The Covington Trailhead marks the beginning of a 31-mile paved trail that connects the cities of Covington, Abita Springs, Mandeville, Lacombe and Slidell. Located at 419 North New Hampshire Street, the Trailhead is within walking distance of all the downtown shops and restaurants. Resembling an old-fashioned railroad station, the site includes a clock tower, an amphitheater, a grassy knoll for audience seating, a covered marketplace, rest rooms, water fountains, a museum / visitor's center and a small movie theater. The museum is open on Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
The Trailhead hosts the Covington Farmer's Market every Wednesday, as well as numerous concerts and events throughout the year, including the ever popular Rockin' the Rails concert series during the sprint and fall. For a list of upcoming events, see our calendar of events.
