Jumpin' Into Summer Children's Event - June 2
The City of Covington will host its annual Jumpin’ Into Summer children’s event at the Covington Trailhead, 419 N. New Hampshire St., on Saturday, June 2, from 10 a.m. to noon. Children of all ages will enjoy this free, fun-filled event. It will feature a live animal presentation by the Audubon Nature Institute’s Wetland Express, a program that gives children an up-close, educational experience with wildlife from the Louisiana wetlands. Children are welcome to bring their own exotic pets with them to “show and tell.” However, there will be limitations, and the animals must be approved with the Office of Cultural Arts and Events prior to June 2. To inquire about bringing your own exotic animal to the event, call 985-892-1873. Children will also be treated to face-painting by Lauticeanna Party Art, and other summer activities.
“The Wetland Express will be a great learning experience for the kids. It will teach them about animals indigenous to our area by essentially bringing wetlands to them! says Aimee Faucheux, Cultural Arts & Events Manager.
