A Taste of Covington

The Covington Business Association will present “A Taste of Covington,” the first four-day food and wine experience in historic downtown Covington, on March 29 through April 1, 2012. Co-sponsored by the City of Covington, Glazer's Distributors of Louisiana and Acquistapace’s Covington Supermarket, the event features a Vintners’ Dinner, cooking demonstrations, a unique Artist Marketplace, a Gallery/Merchant & Tasting Stroll and a Jazz Brunch.

The four-day event kicks off on Thursday, March 29, at 6 p.m. with the Vintners’ Dinner, which takes place at seven select Covington restaurants. Each restaurant will provide a different four-course gourmet meal with wine pairings by Glazer’s of Louisiana and Acquistapace’s Covington Supermarket. Reservations should be made through the restaurants. Seating is limited. Participating restaurants include 407 North Restaurant, 407 N. The culinary delights will continue on Friday, March 30, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a cooking demonstration/sampling conducted by local chefs at the Covington Trailhead, 419 N. New Hampshire St. Experts from Glazer’s and Acquistapace’s will also be on hand to talk about wine and food pairings, and wine will be available to sample. Afterwards, guests are invited to explore downtown Covington and enjoy the first Columbia Street Block Party of the year, which takes place just one block from the Trailhead.

On Saturday, March 31, local artists and craftsmen will market one-of-a-kind pieces at A Taste of Covington Artist Marketplace on Lee Lane from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday evening kicks into high gear with the Gallery/Merchant & Tasting Stroll from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wine reps will be present at ten local shops and galleries with wine and cheese for your shopping pleasure. More merchants will stay open late Saturday for shopping specials, and live music will be played at multiple locations. Merchant maps will be available for your convenience. 

On Sunday, April 1, the event will wrap up with a Jazz Brunch at 407 North Restaurant. Glazer’s and Acquistapace’s will provide the libations.
