New Images of Gas Station Thieves

Chief Tim Lentz reports that the Covington Police Department has received additional images of the suspects that made away with cash from a local business, posing as employees.

On January 31st, the Covington Police Department received information that a similar scam had occurred at another convenience store, this time in Mississippi. On this occasion, a male subject entered Keith’s Superstores, 7048 US Hwy 49 N, Hattiesburg, MS, and asked for an employment application, as well as the name and telephone number of the manager.

Later that day, a male subject posing as the general manager called the store stating that one of the company’s trucks had broken down and inquired as to how much cash was in the register. He then told the store employee that his assistant would be coming by to retrieve the cash. A short time later, an unidentified white female entered the store posing as the general manager’s assistant and retrieved an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Covington Police Department was able to obtain surveillance images of both suspects, which is attached to this release, and believe they may be the same individuals that walked away with cash from a convenience store in Covington.

The Covington Police Department has received several tips but has yet to confirm the identity of the suspects. The public’s help is again requested with any information they may have about these two individuals. If anyone may be able to identify either suspect please contact the Covington Police Department Investigations Division at (985)867-1200 or Crimestoppers at (504)822-1111.
