Vehicle Crash Involving Overturned 18-Wheeler Results in Traffic Jam at Intersection of US-190 and Front St

Chief Tim Lentz reports that on Monday, January 6, 2014 at approximately 09:08AM, the Covington Police Department received a call in reference to a vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler at the intersection of US Hwy 190 and Front St. The caller advised that the truck was flipped and smoking.

Upon arrival of officers, they discovered a single vehicle accident, with an 18-wheeler overturned in the outside southbound lane leaking diesel fuel. The driver, identified as Kedric Quin, DOB 06/29/1982, from Hammond, La, was transported to North Oaks Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash.

Firefighters have contained the diesel leak on scene and emergency responders are standing by while a wrecker service attempts to remove the vehicle. The cause of the crash is under investigation and will determine whether any charges will result. Two of the southbound lanes are still blocked and motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible due to traffic congestion. Further details will be released in a later release upon the completion of the investigation.
