The City of Covington is pleased to have two municipal cemeteries and one mausoleum under our care:

Covington Cemetery No. 1
608 N. Columbia Street
Covington, LA

Covington Cemetery No. 2 (Wilson, Garden of Pines, and Mausoleum)
1400 N. Columbia Street
Covington, LA

Due to their age and steady use over the years, there are no longer any plots for sale.

According to Sec. 26-31 of the Covington Code of Ordinances, it is unlawful for anyone other than a funeral home representative to apply for a permit to open a gravesite.  Therefore, in order to bury a loved one, a representative of the funeral home in charge of burial arrangements must appear in person at Covington City Hall, 317 N. Jefferson Avenue, to secure the Cemetery Plot Opening Permit and pay a $50 fee.  If the deed to the plot cannot be located, then an Affidavit should be executed before a Notary Public and submitted to our office along with the completed permit form and fee. Other documentation may be required to validate a familial relationship between the deceased and original owner of the plot such as a picture ID, birth certificate, legal will of the original title-holder, and letters of release from other family members who may also have a claim to the plot. Checks or money orders should be made payable to the City of Covington. Cash is not accepted.
