Special Event Permit Information
A special event permit is required for any event taking place on city property. Please use the Special Event Permit Application to make sure you are covered on the day of your event. You may obtain the permit application at the Covington Trailhead Office of Cultural Arts and Events (CAE), 419 N. New Hampshire Street or see printable applications below. You must also submit a $25 application fee (check or money order only) and a certificate of insurance with your application.
Your first step in the approval process is to meet with the CAE staff at the Covington Trailhead to review and discuss your Special Event Application.
Due to logistical reasons and limited city resources, event permit approval is not always guaranteed. Please do not begin advertising your event publicly until approval has been granted by all applicable city departments, including the Mayor's office.
For barricade requests in addition to any that may be determined necessary as a public safety mandate upon review by the Covington Police or Fire Department, the event applicant will be required to complete a Barricade Rental Application for City review/approval. All applicants will be responsible for pickup and return of barricades to the City of Covington, Department of Public Works Barn, 1300 W. 27th Avenue, only after a reservation approval is received.
To apply for reservation approval, submit a completed application form for city authorization and present to a Customer Service Representative at City Hall, 317 N. Jefferson Avenue; also, have all fees including required deposit available to finalize reservation. Rental of barricade fees are $1.50/each per day with a required refundable deposit of $10.00 per barricade, to a maximum of $100.00.
Applications are available at the Covington Trailhead Office of Cultural Arts and Events, 419 N. New Hampshire Street or see Printable Applications in the sidebar.
