Wanted Felon Arrested on Multiple Charges

The Covington Police Department (CPD) has arrested Thaddeus Baham on multiple charges following a proactive patrol in the area of North Polk Street and West 28th Avenue.

On February 5, 2025, detectives from the CPD Narcotics Unit were conducting proactive patrols in the aforementioned area when they observed Baham, a known wanted person, riding a bicycle. Detectives were aware that Baham had an outstanding warrant from the Covington Police Department for charges related to the theft of a dog.

Officers initiated a stop, which resulted in a brief struggle. Following the stop, officers located a SCCY CPX-2 9mm handgun and a quantity of crack cocaine on Baham’s person.

As a result of this incident, Baham was arrested and charged with the following:

  • 40:967 – Possession of Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Felony)
  • 14: 95.1 – Possession of a firearm by a felon (Felony)
  • 14:95E – Illegal carry of a weapon with a controlled dangerous substance (Felony)
  • 14:95.6 – Violation of a firearm-free zone (Felony)
  • 40:981.3 – Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a drug-free zone (Felony)
  • 14:108.1 – Resisting an officer (Misdemeanor)

The original warrant for the theft of a dog included the following charges:

  • 14:62 – Simple Burglary (Felony)
  • 14:67 – Theft $5000 – $25,000 (Felony)

Baham was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center without incident.
