How do I request an off-duty police detail?

All paid-off-duty police details are now scheduled through Off Duty Management. Vendors can request services online through the OfficerTRAK portal at:

When should I request a detail?

Requests should be submitted as early as possible. Last-minute requests may be difficult to fill, especially for larger events, traffic control assignments, weekends, holidays, or events requiring multiple officers.

Who do I pay for an off-duty detail?

Payment is made directly to Off Duty Management. Vendors no longer pay officers directly on the day of the event. Off Duty Management pays the officers directly after the completed assignment.

Are all vendors required to prepay?

Some vendors may be required to prepay before the details are published for officers to select. This generally applies to new vendors, those who have not previously worked with Off Duty Management, or those without an established payment history. Vendors who are approved for invoicing may be invoiced after the detail is worked.

What are the current off-duty detail rates?

Click here for the most current rates -- Police Details - City of Covington Louisiana

Is there a minimum charge for details?

Yes. All requests require a 4-hour payment minimum.

What happens if a detail runs over the scheduled time?

If a job extends more than 15 minutes into the next hour, the entire next hour will be billed at the full hourly rate.

What is considered a traffic detail?

A traffic detail includes assignments where officers are directing traffic, assisting with road closures, managing roadway safety, or handling vehicle and pedestrian flow.

What information is needed to schedule a detail?

Vendors should be prepared to provide the event date, time, location, expected number of attendees, event type, whether alcohol will be served, whether traffic control is needed, and the number of officers requested or required.

Who determines how many officers are needed?

The Police Department may determine the number of officers needed based on the type of event, expected attendance, location, traffic impact, alcohol sales, road closures, and overall public safety needs.

Are there any special requirements for details at Bogue Falaya Hall or the Firehouse Event Center?

Yes. For events at Bogue Falaya Hall or the Firehouse Event Center, the assigned officer must be the last person on the property and is responsible for ensuring the facility is secured before leaving. When scheduling details at either location, vendors should make sure the officer’s scheduled time covers the full event, including closing and lockup.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a detail?

Vendors are required to cancel or reschedule details at least 13 hours prior to the scheduled start time. If a detail is not canceled or rescheduled before that deadline, the vendor will be responsible for a 4-hour minimum payment per officer.

Can I request a specific officer?

Requests for specific officers may be noted; however, assignments are based on officer availability and department approval.

Who should I contact with questions?

For scheduling, invoicing, payment, or account setup questions, vendors should contact Off Duty Management at 877-636-8300 or visit OffDutyManagement.com.

If vendors still have questions after contacting Off Duty Management, they may contact Officer Masters at the Covington Police Department at 985-892-8500 ext. 656 or by email at cmasters@covla.com.
